A Day in the Life of a Wedding Planner

As a marketing assistant for Pure Luxe Bride, I recently had the opportunity to shadow Francesca for a wedding at the beautiful Magnolia Plantation. This wedding was not only gorgeous, but it was a great wedding to shadow due to the many Luxe List vendors that were used within its production. From being involved with this wedding from start to finish, I truly got to see how important organization, structure, planning, and most importantly, how crucial Francesca’s role was to the success of this fabulous Charleston destination wedding. The client booked our Mermaid Package or  "Event Management" package and added on Design Concept which all started months ago as Francesca held consultations with the bride and groom, reached out to vendors, organized and created timelines and floor plan designs, and answered any questions and special requests from the couple as well as their vendors of choice. On the day of the wedding, Francesca’s hard work over the months came together as vendors and creative concepts meshed together to create a beautiful design.

The Pure Luxe team arrived early at Magnolia Plantation's Carriage House on the day of the wedding to greet vendors and start the set up process. As vendors arrived on site, we made sure they had a floor plan of the design concept and ensured that everything was set up appropriately. This was very important considering the large amount of vendors that were used for this wedding, and the fact that most of them arrived around the same time. Organization was very important as these many vendors crowded inside Magnolia Plantation Carriage House to assemble flowers, chairs, bars, and more. All vendors worked as a team and it was amazing to watch.

The day-of isn't glamorous like the role Jennifer Lopez played in The Wedding Planner, our team handled tying all of the chair cushions on both the ceremony and reception chairs, arranging table arrangements, decorating the reception area with accessories, decorating the bar, and placing gift and departure tables in the most feasible spots. Francesca's car was packed full of the clients personal items and decor that had to be unpacked, assembled, and arranged throughout the venue. These tasks took the majority of the day and were very important for creating the theme that the bride and groom desired. By having an event manager hired, the bride and groom escaped the stress and many hours of preparation doing these things. After the celebration was over, the bride and groom and their guests departed and the Pure Luxe team handled the clean up process and vendors arrived to gather their items. Through the help of Francesca, the bride and groom were able to enjoy a stress free day pampering and preparing themselves for their ceremony and reception, instead of running around trying to prepare their venue.

Vendor relationships is another advantage of hiring Pure Luxe Bride as an event manager. For the day of Allison + Alejandro’s wedding, our vendor relationships ensured that the day ran smoothly. All of these Charleston based vendors are familiar with working together, as well as with Francesca and the rest of the team, which allows for a stress free environment.  All vendors knew the exact timing and schedule for the entire wedding, and stayed in communication throughout the day to make sure that everything was running on schedule and as planned. For a destination bride and groom such as Allison + Alejandro, hiring a wedding planner to handle event management and design concept is crucial. Out of town couples are not able to meet with vendors; therefore, it is important to hire a wedding planner to bring their vision to life.

With all of hard work and preparation for the big day, stressful situations that happened to pop up were solved quickly. With the Luxe Bag in tow, the team was readily equipped with everything from tide to go pens, tape, Tylenol, and many more items that were used to solve any problem.

Overall, my experience shadowing Francesca on-site taught me how extremely important it is for the bride and groom to hire an event manager and why "day-of" coordination doesn't exist. The bride and groom should enjoy their wedding day, as well as the entire wedding planning process. That's why Pure Luxe Bride doesn't offer "day-of coordination" and rather an event management package that helps bride and groom along the way as their wedding date approaches.
