Thomas Bennett House Wedding: Whitney + Nick

Whitney + Nick envisioned a romantic southern garden wedding and The Thomas Bennett was the perfect venue to host their day. A beautiful Sperry tent was set for dinner with chandeliers, lush blooms, and gold accents. The bar was adorned with their custom monogram decals which was also incorporated into their beautiful invitation suite. The couple said "I Do" during an intimate ceremony as guests waved 'yay' flags and tossed petals as the couple recessed down the aisle after their first kiss. A solo pianist played as guests entered the historic home for cocktail hour while the wedding party took a spin in the vintage seafoam green bus. After a night of dancing, the bride and groom exited through a tunnel of glow wands and drove off in a horse drawn carriage!

William Aiken House Wedding: Alex + John

Alex and John hosted their wedding at the William Aiken House, a seamless blend of 18th- century charm and modern sophistication. After getting ready, the couple met on the wrap-around porch for their ‘first-look” which was beautifully captured by Virgil Bunao. The couple was married on the front lawn with an English Garden setting that entailed an olive branch garland wrapping the seating and hanging lanterns in the oak to create a picturesque backdrop for the ceremony. Pink, peach, and white hued blooms with accents of airy greenery topped every table alongside many gold accents. The reception area was full of gorgeous details including the lush floral chandelier, lounge pieces, birchwood and white checkered dance floor, and custom linens from Nuage.  Alex + and John ended the evening with a dazzling sparkler departure as Mr. & Mrs. Kirkpatrick!

Real Luxe Wedding: Amy + Craig

This New York City couple had a beautiful southern wedding here in Charleston! Her vision was to have an elegant, glam, and tropical wedding with a palette of gold, blush, white and ivory. The couple fell in love with the avenue of oaks at the Legare-Waring House so they chose to take advantage of that space for their ceremony, and then utilizing the modern, spacious inside of Founders Hall for the reception. The couple was one step ahead of the summer heat by providing their guests with a portable fan that plugs into your cell phone!  Amy's Galia Lahav gown was accessorized with a bouquet of gorgeous naturally hanging orchids by Fox Events. Founders Hall was elaborately decorated with soft draping, lush centerpieces, tons of candlelight, and one luxurious head table with hanging greenery and florals! To take a break from dancing, guests stopped at the slow motion photobooth, grabbed a gourmet popsicle,  and enjoyed a fine cigar. At the end of the night, guests left with mini boxes of Baklavah that were made by the bride's mother, perfect way to end the evening. Congratulations, Amy and Craig!

Planning Tip Tuesday: 12 Months +

Hi, it's Blake here! We thought it would be fun to give updates on the planning progress and things I learn along the way now that I am an official bride-to-be (yay!). I am excited to share my thoughts being on this side of the wedding planning process and hope it is helpful to you!

With my wedding date over a year away, I am in the beginning phase, so here is what I am up to:

-Set a budget! Talk with everyone who is contributing and get an overall number as this dictates everything else!

-Choose a destination, venue, and date: This is the first thing I did once I got engaged! Charleston is such a popular destination so locking in the venue was a must! I weighed the pro's and con's of each venue and what is important to us for the day. So many factors to consider; weather, time of year, budget, location, even the bathrooms (hehe)!

-Guest list: Gone are the days of address books for us millennials! My fiance and I sat down to put together a rough guest list to have a better idea of the overall number of guests we are anticipating. Gathering addresses is definitely a process, so I have begun reaching out to friends and family so I have it ready when I need it.

-Timing: Now that we have the venue and date locked in, setting the timing for the ceremony and reception is so important. Take a look at the sunset time, and decide how many hours you would like your reception to be. Most vendor contracts ask for timing so it is important to have this going forward.

-Planning the engagement party and photos! Engagements sessions are so much fun and a way to get comfortable with your photographer! Celebrating with friends and family is something we are really looking forward to since we got engaged in a private setting.

-Choose your wedding party: There are so many fun creative ways to ask your girls and guys to stand by your side! Have fun with it! Anything you love, they will love too, that is my motto :)
