Fabulous Friday: Venue Spotlight on Lowndes Grove Plantation

By far one of our favorite venues in Charleston is the gorgeous Lowndes Grove Plantation! Between the historic white plantation home overlooking the Ashley River, and the expansive lawn and gardens that are perfect for a ceremony, Lowndes Grove Plantation provides the backdrop for a classic, romantic Southern wedding. Originally built in in 1786 by George Abbot Hall, Lowndes Grove Plantation remained a privately owned residence until 2007, when it was opened as an event venue. Since then, the historic plantation home has seen countless brides through the happiest day of their life. The stunningly decorated  interior rooms, complete with that classic Charleston style,  provide the perfect setting for pre-wedding photos. Once outside, you can't deny the incredible view of the reception space as the sun sets over the Ashley River. Complete with a large dock for guests to enjoy throughout the night, Lowndes Grove Plantation truly offers it all to our brides looking for that traditional plantation wedding!

History Lesson at Magnolia Plantation

Magnolia Plantation is perhaps one of the most exquisite plantations in all of South Carolina. Dating back to 1679, Thomas and Ann Drayton established Magnolia Plantation, and we're the first of many owners spanning throughout 300 years. Most notably, Magnolia Plantation transferred ownership following the death of Thomas Drayton, in 1825. His brother, John Grimke Drayton, who was 22 at the time, took over Magnolia Plantation and truly brought it to it's full potential. With the desire to please his loving wife, Julia, John established an amazing array of gardens throughout Magnolia Plantation, which continue to blossom and expand to this day. Focusing on the soft and natural beauty of the South, John truly created a sought-after environment, perfectly intimate and remote!
