Magnolia Plantation Wedding: Kimberly + Clint

Kimberly + Clint's Magnolia Plantation Wedding was a beautiful, intimate gathering for the happy couple! The bridal party started hair and makeup bright and early with Paper Dolls in the Carriage Suite at Magnolia Plantation, while the groom and his groomsmen got ready together offsite. With rain on the horizon and a desire for pictures on Magnolia's lush grounds, the couple opted for a first look (although not originally planned) and the pictures turned out absolutely gorgeous! We were overjoyed that Kimberly + Clint got the shots they wanted, and it just goes to show that with a little trust, everything will turn out just fine, rain or shine! Following the couple's impromptu first look, the ceremony took place under the oaks with a view of the water as Kimberly + Clint said their vows to each other. Kimberly carried a hand-tied bouquet by Wild Flowers filled with white and green hydrangeas, garden roses, white ranunculus, blush pink lisianthus, and more, plus fabulous pops of bright pink ranunculus. Following the ceremony, Mosaic Catering kicked off cocktail hour with gourmet mimosas in pineapple, orange, and cranberry flavors and bloody marys, complete with celery, pickled vegetables, cracked pepper, bacon swizzles, and a variety of hot sauces. Passed hors d'oeuvres were also served, including chicken dipped waffle bites, yogurt parfaits, and apricot chicken salad. Next, the newlyweds were announced into the reception as "Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Thomas" and they shared their first dance to "At Last" by Etta James. The bride + groom then welcomed their guests to the reception and invited them to enjoy brunch! Brunch stations were set around the room, including His + Hers omelettes, Charleston grits, and an assortment of biscuits. This spread by Mosaic was simply delicious! Tables were adorned with lush centerpieces in rustic wooden boxes and locally made and wrapped pralines as a sweet treat for guests! Rustic-chic lounge was set in the middle of the space in front of Kimberly + Clint's sweetheart table, complete with basket weave chairs for the sweet couple. Ivory drape by Pure Luxe Bride softened the space and tied the design together perfectly. Guests had a wonderful time on the dance-floor dancing to tunes by DJ Rob Duren. At the end of this lovely day, the new Mr. + Mrs. were happily sent on their way with a bubble send off! Thanks so much to Aaron + Jillian for capturing all this pretty!

Fabulous Friday: Venue Spotlight on Lowndes Grove Plantation

By far one of our favorite venues in Charleston is the gorgeous Lowndes Grove Plantation! Between the historic white plantation home overlooking the Ashley River, and the expansive lawn and gardens that are perfect for a ceremony, Lowndes Grove Plantation provides the backdrop for a classic, romantic Southern wedding. Originally built in in 1786 by George Abbot Hall, Lowndes Grove Plantation remained a privately owned residence until 2007, when it was opened as an event venue. Since then, the historic plantation home has seen countless brides through the happiest day of their life. The stunningly decorated  interior rooms, complete with that classic Charleston style,  provide the perfect setting for pre-wedding photos. Once outside, you can't deny the incredible view of the reception space as the sun sets over the Ashley River. Complete with a large dock for guests to enjoy throughout the night, Lowndes Grove Plantation truly offers it all to our brides looking for that traditional plantation wedding!

Fabulous Friday: The Perfect Charleston Wedding

Charleston: known for its incredible history, beautiful plantations, and southern charm.  With the wedding industry booming, it's no surprise that the Holy City No has been ranked as the #2 city in the world! The Pure Luxe Bride team is located right here in Charleston, SC, and although most of our clients are destination brides, who can resist a little southern flair on their wedding day! Our design team knows how to incorporate just the right amount of Charleston into your big day to reflect the culture and beauty of the city. Here's just a few of our favorite Charleston touches from our real Luxe weddings!

Use a Rickshaw as your getaway vehicle! Anyone can use a traditional car to depart their wedding ceremony, but why not surprise guests and add a little Charleston touch by renting a rickshaw for the night! You can even dress it up and add a personal touch by attaching flowers or a sign to make it that much more special.

Serve traditional southern dishes as your passed appetizers! Chicken and waffles, although it may seem odd to our Northern brides, is a very popular dish in Charleston! Serve guests a little taste of Charleston culture with these adorable (and delicious) appetizers! Other favorites include shrimp and grits, crab cakes, and fried green tomatoes.

Tie in the South into your wedding flowers! Using cotton in a boutonniere is a beautiful and light touch for any southern wedding, and it looks great with any wedding colors! A sweetgrass rose is another way to incorporate Charleston into your wedding flowers! Made right here by local vendors, these are an undeniable part of the city's culture and charm.

Last but not least, Charleston is known for its gorgeous iron gates all across the city. It's hard to walk down one of the historic downtown streets without seeing one of these masterpieces. To capture the history of the city, take photos using the gates as a backdrop! As a timeless and classic backdrop, these gates will ensure your wedding photos never go out of style!
