Planning Tip Tuesday: A Perfect Reception Deserves A Perfect Playlist

If you want a reception that gets your four-year-old flower girl twirling, your friends slow-dancing, your parents singing their way back to their era, your grandpa busting his stylish moves, and of course, you and your Mr. doing all of the above, it’s important to spend some time planning the perfect playlist for your wedding.

To help you get started, we’ve made four playlists with song suggestions to help you pack the dance floor, have your guests reeling in romance, close out the night, and—since we are in South Carolina—bring out the Southern Charm of every guest!

Fabulous Friday: Cakes We Adore

What's better than digging into your favorite slice of cake after dancing off a few calories? Especially when the cake looks as good as it tastes! We love the unique designs that our brides + PLB have come up with! Whether it's a small cutting cake or 3 tiers, each cake brings a special design element to the reception. We absolutely love the gold foil trend that has taken off! However, we can't discriminate against cake... Naked cakes, or even traditional simple buttercream cakes adorned with fresh flowers are sometimes too pretty too eat. We are blessed with some amazingly talented bakers who make cakes that not only look good, but taste amazing too! Check out some of our favorites!

Lowndes Grove Plantation Wedding: Katie + Jesse

Katie and Jesse’s Lowndes Grove Plantation Wedding was the perfect venue to host the best day of their lives. After getting ready, the couple met on the walkway to the dock for their intimate first look captured by Aaron and Jillian Photography. Lowndes Grove Plantation is a beautiful venue due to its location tucked away on the waterfront with the classic style oak trees on the front lawn and a historic home on the property. The tent was full of cafe lighting and chandeliers with neutrals and accents of jewel tones for a gorgeous fall wedding. The couples sweet pup even decided to make an appearance for the wedding day and for some adorable photos! See all the pretty details below!

Planning Tip Tuesday: In Lieu of Favors

Looking for alternate idea to wedding favors for your guests? A different option in lieu of wedding favors is to donate to a charity of your choosing. Pick a charity whose mission statement is near and dear to you as a couple and present it at the wedding so guests know you made a donation on their behalf. This choice of 'favor' would not only allow you to give a little back, but leave your guests feeling good long after they depart the wedding. Another idea is to provide an item that can be used at the wedding and taken home later as a memory. Koozies to keep your beer cold, pashminas for winter weddings, rescue flats for the ladies, place cards such as oyster shells, and the list goes on! There are tons of fun options!

Magnolia Plantation Veranda Wedding: Samantha + Jeromy

Labor Day weekend was the perfect weather for a Magnolia Plantation Veranda Wedding for Samantha + Jeromy. The couple had their first look under swooping oaks at the plantation captured by Rachel Red Photography. The ceremony began at the wedding garden with the beautiful white bridge as the backdrop. Once they tied the knot, guests enjoyed cocktail hour on the front lawn of the house followed by dinner on the porch. Tables were set with garland, gold lanterns and lots of candlelight for a simple, elegant southern look. The bride and groom had a beautiful chandelier hanging over their cozy sweetheart table. Planning Tip Tuesday: Southern Traditions

Today we are talking about our top 3 Southern Wedding Traditions!

Bury the Bourbon

Southern folklore says that if you bury a bottle of bourbon upside down at your ceremony site, one month before the wedding, it will keep the rain away! On the wedding day, dig up the bourbon, pop it open and have a sip! (Note: Be sure to check with your venue to make sure they allow this)

Bridal Portrait Sessions

Every girl wants the excuse to wear her wedding dress not once, but twice! Bridal portrait sessions are a long standing southern tradition, which allows the bride to get her hair, makeup, and dress on for an amazing photo session with her photographer.

Grooms Cake

The grooms cake is a gift from the bride to groom (usually a surprise) to represent his hobbies, talents, or interests. This is a great way to honor him since so much is about the bride, and doesn't have to go with the decor of the wedding itself so you can get creative!

Magnolia Plantation Carriage House Wedding: Kira + Brent

On a lovely Friday afternoon, Kira + Brent tied the knot at their Magnolia Plantation Carriage House Wedding. After an intimate first look, exquisitely captured by Dana Cubbage, the ceremony was beautifully set up underneath the large oak.  The bridesmaids making their way down the aisle in mismatched burgundy, pink and purple dresses before Kira, looking stunning in her blush tulle gown and bold red lipstick.

Inside the carriage house, the 2 white farm tables, making up the head tables, were adorned with gorgeous centerpieces filled with flowers of sandy pinks, burgundy, and touches of white and green. Pomegranates were incorporated into the tabletop to add some texture and accent the deep fall hues. The wagon wheel chandeliers were embellished with complementary florals to the centerpieces.  After a fun night of eating, drinking, and dancing the night away, the newlyweds departed the reception via vintage Rolls Royce as Mr. + Mrs. Greenberg!

Magnolia Plantation Carriage House Wedding: Stacey + David

David + Stacey's Magnolia Plantation Carriage House wedding was the perfect venue to say "I do".  After getting ready, the couple met downtown for their 'first look' outside the Dock Street Theatre, which was beautifully captured by Dana Cubbage. The Theatre was a special place for the bride who grew up preforming there as a little girl. This romantic, river-front location (along with the very compliant, and stunning weather) provided the perfect backdrop to a stunning Jewish ceremony and reception in front of their closest family and friends. David + Stacey were married under a beautiful hand-made Huppah that was accented with a fabulous florals by Wild Flowers, Inc.  Pink hued blooms filled the table tops with accents of navy and gold with specialty gold sequined runners.  A white birdcage with spilling flowers adorned David + Stacey's sweetheart table. Guests enjoyed signature cocktails by Squeeze named "The Sherfman" that was made up of vodka, grapefruit juice, simple syrup & bitters, and a "Southern Belle" made up of firefly vodka and lemonade. Their signature cocktail was named after their fun wedding social media hashtag, #Sherfman (a combination of both of their last names.) Delicious hors d'oeuvres were made and served by Salthouse catering, while guests mingled and enjoyed the DJ's selection of Sinatra-style music. David + Stacey danced the night away, including a very fun Horah (which was our favorite part of the evening!) The newly weds rode off in style in a Rolls Royce as the new Mr. & Mrs. Shiffman.
