Fabulous Friday: Cakes We Adore

What's better than digging into your favorite slice of cake after dancing off a few calories? Especially when the cake looks as good as it tastes! We love the unique designs that our brides + PLB have come up with! Whether it's a small cutting cake or 3 tiers, each cake brings a special design element to the reception. We absolutely love the gold foil trend that has taken off! However, we can't discriminate against cake... Naked cakes, or even traditional simple buttercream cakes adorned with fresh flowers are sometimes too pretty too eat. We are blessed with some amazingly talented bakers who make cakes that not only look good, but taste amazing too! Check out some of our favorites!

Lowndes Grove Plantation Wedding: Haley + Jeff

Haley + Jeff had a beautiful Lowndes Grove Plantation wedding. Haley was a true Pure Luxe Bride, incorporating sparkle into her wedding any chance she had. Her tent shimmered with blush pink and accents of silver. The poles were disguised in a soft pink drape, and glittering linens covered the cocktail tables. The floral combinations from Branch caught the attention of all the guests with a combination of white hydrangeas, silver dollar eucalyptus, roses, and dusty miller in a mercury glass vase stole the show. The bride carried a bouquet of white O'Hara garden roses and peonies tied with a ribbon to match her gown. She looked stunning in her uniquely beaded dress with a low cut back and bold red lips. Following the ceremony, a pink champagne tower provided by Polished awaited the guests for cocktail hour. This wedding had a ladies and gents tents set up on either side of the dock, and looked the part. The ladies tent was covered with pink draping and inside a beautiful crystal chandelier hung above the feminine lounge with lip gloss, perfume, and a fun framed quote from Coco Chanel for the girls to use.  On the other side was the gents tent; it had a brown leather sofa, drum coffee table, and iron wrought chandelier to create the masculine vibe. Cigars were offered inside the tent for the male guests to enjoy. The couple danced the night away to the awesome Calvin Taylor Band and the couple rode off in a vintage Rolls Royce provided by ACW!

Harborside East Wedding: Liz + Jason

The April showers were in full swing during this beautiful Harborside East wedding for Liz + Jason last spring. Even with a bit of darkness in the clouds, this wedding glowed with bright pops of light blue, orange, and hot pink! We loved this colorful design and it reflected the bubbly personality of this adorable couple.Personal details provided by the bride were scattered all over the reception space. Guests enjoyed a delicious treat provided by King of Pops and watched as the bride + groom departed in a vintage Bentley. We wish these newlyweds a lifetime of love, laughter, and happily ever after!

Lowndes Grove Plantation Wedding: Christine + Drew

This “Lilly” inspired wedding at Lowndes Grove Plantation could not have been any more perfect for  this beautiful July day! The decor was bold and bright; the hot pink and  bright greens really made the venue pop! The bride made her own custom ikat pink and green table runners that helped pull together the look with the bold and beautifully done flowers by WildFlowers.

The couple tied in fun, creative details through out their celebration. In lieu of the traditional guest book, the bride came up with something totally unique! The book was a big puzzle of Charleston with different pieces cut out. The guests were told to pick a piece, sign the back, and replace it back into the puzzle.  The bride also had a special swing made for the wedding engraved with her and Drew's initials. It was a creative touch to add to the big Oak Trees at Lowndes Grove.

The bride looked gorgeous in her v-neck silk gown covered in beading, and the guys looked adorable in their pink and white striped bow ties! The excitement was building all day for the groom as he waited for the first look of his bride. The ceremony was made extra special when a bouquet was placed on an empty chair in the front row, in memory of Drew's Mom. This is such a great way to keep loved ones close!

Guests enjoyed cocktail hour with the amazing strings of Seth G. His upbeat vibe got everyone in the mood to party! Christine and her dad shagged to “Brown Eyed Girl” by Van Morrison for their Father/Daughter dance. The bride and groom ended their reception with their first dance to “This Will Be” by Natalie Cole. The party never stopped with this group as they departed by trolley to enjoy the wonderful adventures of Downtown Charleston.

Meet Our New Spring Interns!

The seasons change, so do our fabulous interns! Every year, the Pure Luxe Bride team brings on board two College of Charleston Business & Hospitality Students to learn the ropes of Charleston weddings and events. We are so excited to welcome London and Anayis to our team this Spring.

A huge thank you to Dana Cubbage Weddings for popping by to capture some great shots of our newest on their first day!

Meet our new Event Intern London

© Dana Cubbage Weddings 2014

Where are you from?: I was born in Grapevine, Texas, but moved to Columbia, SC when i was three! I moved to Charleston for school and my parents moved to Hilton Head! So I guess you could say I've lived all over the place, but my mom says ill always be a native Texan!

Tell us about you: Something about me is that I've grown up in airline family! My mom was a flight attendant and my dad is a pilot! It's really offered a lot of cool opportunities for me to travel, and I've been on 5/7 continents!

Why did you choose Charleston?: I think Charleston is the most beautiful city in the entire world! When I was touring schools, I actually saw a bride taking pictures in the Cistern, and that sold me on the school all together!

Meet our new Marketing & Events Intern Anayis

© Dana Cubbage Weddings 2014Where are you from? I was born and raised in the suburbs of Philadelphia - specifically, The Main Line. I lived there for the first 18 years of my life, attending The Episcopal Academy for 14 of them, and moved to Charleston in 2010 to go to school.

Favorite hobby? My favorite hobby - that's a tough one. I would have to say being a foodie is one of the most fun! Trying new restaurants and eating some of the world's most delicious foods is definitely at the top of my list. I also love relaxing on the beach or curling up with a good book.

What is your favorite part of wedding planning? ..Being there for the event, to watch a year (plus) of planning, hard work and creativity unfold. I enjoy getting to know the couples and watching them evolve throughout the planning process but when it comes time to celebrate their big day with them, I would say that nothing is more exciting or rewarding.

London and Anayis, welcome to the team!
