Real Luxe Wedding: Amy + Craig

This New York City couple had a beautiful southern wedding here in Charleston! Her vision was to have an elegant, glam, and tropical wedding with a palette of gold, blush, white and ivory. The couple fell in love with the avenue of oaks at the Legare-Waring House so they chose to take advantage of that space for their ceremony, and then utilizing the modern, spacious inside of Founders Hall for the reception. The couple was one step ahead of the summer heat by providing their guests with a portable fan that plugs into your cell phone!  Amy's Galia Lahav gown was accessorized with a bouquet of gorgeous naturally hanging orchids by Fox Events. Founders Hall was elaborately decorated with soft draping, lush centerpieces, tons of candlelight, and one luxurious head table with hanging greenery and florals! To take a break from dancing, guests stopped at the slow motion photobooth, grabbed a gourmet popsicle,  and enjoyed a fine cigar. At the end of the night, guests left with mini boxes of Baklavah that were made by the bride's mother, perfect way to end the evening. Congratulations, Amy and Craig!

Founder's Hall Wedding: Rebecca + Jarrett

This brides dream was to have a winter wedding, and that is exactly what she got. Rebecca + Jarrett had their wedding at Founder's Hall on a cool December day. Their colors were red and black with a custom black and white print incorporated into the decor. This winter classic was a great way to end the year!

Let's start with the dress...Rebecca looked absolutely beautiful in her ball gown dress. We couldn't picture her in anything more perfect. She entered into the ceremony to the sounds of Jimmy Ryan the bag piper that certainly made an entrance.

After this sweet couple said "I Do" cocktail hour took place on the patio and inside the great hall. Dinner  was a true southern meal provided by Home Team BBQ complete with pork, chicken, and delicious mac and cheese. Guests enjoyed spending time outside standing around the roaring fire pit. After dinner, the couple cut their cake which was a three-tiered white cake with cranberry garnish.

As true South Carolina fans that they are, they had their mascot "Cocky" make an appearance at the reception. The guests had a blast dancing and taking pictures with Cocky and the bride + groom were in gamecock heaven.  It was certainly a great ending to a wonderful evening that Pure Luxe Bride was so happy to be apart of.

Founders Hall Wedding: Ashley + Tim

On October 11, the Pure Luxe pair Ashley and Tim tied the knot on the lawn of Founder’s Hall, located at the Historic Charles Towne Landing. This modern location was the ideal setting for both the ceremony and vineyard inspired reception. From the private lounge and courtyard where they took their pictures to the great hall and screened in porch where they held cocktail hour and the reception, the venue was a perfect fit for their big day.

The ceremony was held in front of friends and family outside of the great hall, in the courtyard. The bride looked stunning in her fitted Nicole Miller gown as her father escorted her down the aisle. After the couple had said their vows, they led their guests to the screened in porch to begin cocktail hour with drinks served by MIX Premier Bartending.

The green tables and wooden and cork accent pieces created a vineyard feel to the night. Wild Flowers Inc. designed beautiful, rustic arrangements for the tables in tree bark bases. Pink peonies, roses, various berries popped in the earthy arrangements that also included pine cone flowers. Cork table numbers, guest book, and place settings completed the look, but what really topped it all off was the amazing cake of cheese provided by Hamby.

A plated dinner was served by Hamby Catering and afterwards guests enjoyed a wide variety of desserts. The dessert table was full of sweets as well as the towering cake of cheese. Glazed Gourmet Doughnuts provided multiple different flavors of their delicious treats like glazed, 3 shades of chocolate, strawberry kiwi, and PB and chocolate, all to die for. Milk and cookies were the second option, triple chocolate, gingersnap, chocolate chip, and snicker doodle cookies freshly baked by Wild Flour.

Ascend Entertainment kept celebration going late into the night playing throwbacks and today’s hits. Guests were danced out once it was time to say goodnight to the newlyweds. Paper airplanes that read “when the newlyweds walk your way, gently toss and yell hooray!” were thrown as the couple made their way to their awaiting Black Cab, continuing their perfect night in downtown Charleston.

The Weekday Bride

A few years ago, a weekday wedding would have been out of the question. But now, its common ground for weddings in the top wedding destination, Charleston SC! Most brides, grooms, family and friends are coming from all parts of the country and abroad to celebrate the big-day in Charleston with most wanting to make a vacation out of it to explore the area, food and culture that places it on the map for one of the most coveted cities of the south. Think about this. Venues in Charleston are expensive. They range from an average of $3,000-$5,000 on peak weekends depending on the style of venue you'd like. Weekends in Charleston range from Friday-Sunday. REALLY. Where I come from, weddings were only on Saturdays!

Venues are giving excellent discounts for Monday-Thursday events, yes this means weddings too! Brides are saving upwards of 25-50% off the rental cost of the venue just for having it on a Monday.

Venues that offer these types of week-day discounts are:

Magnolia Plantation

Legare Waring House

Founders Hall

The Island House

William Aiken House

Venues aren't the only ones giving discounts be sure to ask your photographer, DJ and planner if they have any special rates for Monday-Thursday weddings. Chances are they are willing to offer a discount or an additional service on for no additional cost.

If your guests are traveling, consider a weekday wedding because most likely they will make your wedding trip their vacation.
