Legare Waring House: Katie + Adam

It was a gorgeous July summer day for this sweet couple to become husband and wife!  Katie + Adam wed at The Cathedral of St. Luke and St. Paul before returning via ACW Trolley to the Legare Waring House for the reception.  The couple chose vibrant colors of coral, orange, pink and yellow floral arrangements, which looked stunning against the bridesmaid's aqua floor length dresses, yet no one upstaged Katie who looked absolutely stunning in her Hayley Paige wedding gown.  Guests enjoyed drinks and dinner from CruCatering while mingling under the reception tent or taking in the many scenic views of the historic southern home.  Gold IES chandeliers hung from the tent to set the mood for the celebration.  King of Pops arrived to provide guests with a late night snack to cool them off from the Charleston summer heat.  The glow stick straws that guests could put in their drinks were a huge hit and such a fun detail! The night ended with a glow stick departure while Katie + Adam drove away in a 1957Chevrolet Bel Air to spend their first night as husband and wife before heading to Costa Rica for their honeymoon.  We wish you the best, Katie + Adam!

Tessa + Joe at Magnolia Plantation Carriage House

Tessa + Joe's military wedding at Magnolia Plantation was complete with pops of color, lanterns, coral charm peonies, and their furry friends! The ceremony was held outside on the dock overlooking the Ashley River, and the reception took place in the Carriage House. During the ceremony, Tessa + Joe introduced their Love Lock to symbolize their unbreakable love. The couple and parents had their own lock which they locked to a frame and threw the keys into the water. How sweet!

In the Carriage House, white drapes aligned the doorways, custom patterned table runners, and lanterns surrounded by colorful blooms. After a delicious plated dinner and speeches, it was time to cut the ombre ruffled cake. After the reception, guests lined the walkway to send Tessa + Joe off with a sparkler departure!

Creek Club at I'on Wedding: Caitlin + Chris

Caitlin + Chris had a beautiful romantic wedding at the Creek Club this summer! Their first look captured by Jennifer Bearden Photography seriously has us swooning! Their creek side ceremony overlooking the water provided a beautiful backdrop for their vows to take place.  Guests enjoyed cocktail hour on the wrap around porch with rocking chairs and lounge for guests to relax and enjoy the waterside view. The bride + groom incorporated southern charm into their wedding including their new monogram hanging over the fireplace and a gorgeous drape adding a soft touch to the room.  Other cute details were the adorable escort cards, custom cocktail napkins, and pink peony florals to top it all off! King of Pops arrived during dancing to cool down guests with their delicious homemade pops before the couples grand sparkler departure!

Magnolia Plantation Wedding: Kim + Scott

As Kim + Scott's guests arrived to Magnolia Plantation Carriage House, they were welcomed by some of the couple's favorite songs like "Steal My Kisses" by Ben Harper and "Grow Old With Me" by Adam Sandler. Right before the bride walked down the aisle, two and a half year old Ethan beared the rings down the aisle in the most adorable tuxedo and executed his job perfectly. A stunning Kim was escorted by her father down the aisle to "In Your Eyes" by Peter Gabriel, and was greeted at the alter by her beaming groom. The couple exchanged vows and sealed them with a kiss! As the newlyweds walked down the aisle as husband and wife, guests tossed lavender into the air for a one of a kind exit.

Cocktail hour began and guests enjoyed delicious hors d'oeuvres and a specialty, Southern cocktail made with Firefly Sweet Tea Vodka and lemonade named the "Charleston Palmer". Guests lounged in mix-matched vintage pieces provided by 428 Main that were placed around the dance floor for a laid back atmosphere. The escort cards were handmade tree wood name cards. These wood escort cards were made from trees native to South Carolina - how cool! As guests grabbed their escort cards, they replaced them with a Polaroid photo of themselves to hang on the boards in place of their name card. One photo to keep for themselves and one for the newlyweds to treasure!

Guests entered into the rustic reception with hints of yellows and greens radiating throughout the carriage house.  Guests were welcomed, a blessing was given and dinner was served! The Lowcountry Slider Station offered pulled pork barbecue, fried green tomatoes, fried chicken and mini waffles with all the fixin's! The Southern Comfort Station had mini meat loaf bites and a vegetable succotash. Lastly, the Grits Station offered build-your-own grits! Shrimp, sausage, bacon, cheese and more were used to top the delicious stone ground, cream grits.

After dinner, Kim + Scott bounced back and forth between the dance floor and their guests - never without smiles spread across their faces. Later in the reception, the cake was cut and King of Pops arrived to hand out their oh so delicious ice pops! Engraved forks atop WildFlour Pastry's cinnamon buns were the wedding favors: a perfect late night snack or breakfast for the next morning! Kim + Scott enjoyed one final dance alone before their sparkler exit amongst their closest family and friends.

Pure Luxe Planning Tip: Beat the Heat!

The weather is just a small part of why people flock to experience all that Charleston has to offer and makes it possible to have a beautiful wedding in almost every season. However, in peak wedding season Charleston holds true to its southern roots and heat and humidity are definitely present through this time of the year. However, don’t let the heat get you down, because it can easily be overcome. With spring and summer just around the corner, here are a few Pure Luxe tips to keep your guests cool and comfortable!

Don’t let a buggy night keep your guests from enjoying your outdoor dance floor or lounge area. A local company will come out and spray or install a system before you and your guests arrive to make sure mosquitos and other pests stay far away from your special day. There are multiple options to fit the size and needs of your event.

King of pops is certainly a crowd favorite! On a warm summer evening these popsicles are the perfect trick to cool down your guests. They have seasonal flavors to go with any time of the year and make for the cutest pictures!

Even when the sun goes down, Charleston is known for its temperate climate. This problem is an easy fix at any ceremony or reception by using misting fans. Tented or open, fans make sure everyone is cool and happy, without getting them wet!

Another great way to cool down your guests is to provide a "hydration station". Welcome your guests to your event with passed trays of cucumber ice water and sweat tea before the ceremony. Or have a station set up during your reception with flavored water and cooled ice toilettes to make sure they stay hydrated all night long.

One of the easiest things you can do is simply provide shade for your guests. In the hot months you would never guess how much a nice shaded spot is appreciated. We love the way this bride incorporate large umbrellas during her ceremony to shade her guests so they could truly enjoy the I Do's. Their guests were happy and look how cute it looks in pictures!

Lastly, consider the heat when choosing your menu options. Opt for lighter appetizers or small bites instead of the heavier alternatives. Watermelon gazpacho or a raw bar complete with oysters are always great in the summertime!

Cool Down Your Summer Wedding with King of Pops!

I love my new internship! This week I had the pleasure to meet with Kate from King of Pops who told me all about their refreshing and delicious handcrafted popsicles. With a broad selection of flavors and new exciting combinations inspired by the season, King of Pops have something for everyone. Prices start at $2/pop so it's an affordable and fun way to put that extra spark into your event. They can also customize the sticks to reveal a personalized message that surprises your guests as they munch away on their pops. (Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds had these at their Boone Hall Wedding- see clip below via Martha Stewart Weddings).
