Planning Tip Tuesday: A Perfect Reception Deserves A Perfect Playlist

If you want a reception that gets your four-year-old flower girl twirling, your friends slow-dancing, your parents singing their way back to their era, your grandpa busting his stylish moves, and of course, you and your Mr. doing all of the above, it’s important to spend some time planning the perfect playlist for your wedding.

To help you get started, we’ve made four playlists with song suggestions to help you pack the dance floor, have your guests reeling in romance, close out the night, and—since we are in South Carolina—bring out the Southern Charm of every guest!

Thomas Bennett House Wedding: Whitney + Nick

Whitney + Nick envisioned a romantic southern garden wedding and The Thomas Bennett was the perfect venue to host their day. A beautiful Sperry tent was set for dinner with chandeliers, lush blooms, and gold accents. The bar was adorned with their custom monogram decals which was also incorporated into their beautiful invitation suite. The couple said "I Do" during an intimate ceremony as guests waved 'yay' flags and tossed petals as the couple recessed down the aisle after their first kiss. A solo pianist played as guests entered the historic home for cocktail hour while the wedding party took a spin in the vintage seafoam green bus. After a night of dancing, the bride and groom exited through a tunnel of glow wands and drove off in a horse drawn carriage!

Fabulous Friday: Cakes We Adore

What's better than digging into your favorite slice of cake after dancing off a few calories? Especially when the cake looks as good as it tastes! We love the unique designs that our brides + PLB have come up with! Whether it's a small cutting cake or 3 tiers, each cake brings a special design element to the reception. We absolutely love the gold foil trend that has taken off! However, we can't discriminate against cake... Naked cakes, or even traditional simple buttercream cakes adorned with fresh flowers are sometimes too pretty too eat. We are blessed with some amazingly talented bakers who make cakes that not only look good, but taste amazing too! Check out some of our favorites!

William Aiken House Wedding: Alex + John

Alex and John hosted their wedding at the William Aiken House, a seamless blend of 18th- century charm and modern sophistication. After getting ready, the couple met on the wrap-around porch for their ‘first-look” which was beautifully captured by Virgil Bunao. The couple was married on the front lawn with an English Garden setting that entailed an olive branch garland wrapping the seating and hanging lanterns in the oak to create a picturesque backdrop for the ceremony. Pink, peach, and white hued blooms with accents of airy greenery topped every table alongside many gold accents. The reception area was full of gorgeous details including the lush floral chandelier, lounge pieces, birchwood and white checkered dance floor, and custom linens from Nuage.  Alex + and John ended the evening with a dazzling sparkler departure as Mr. & Mrs. Kirkpatrick!

Boone Hall Elopement: Calla + Thomas

Calla was in love with picturesque Boone Hall Plantation because of its long southern driveway lined with swooping oak trees. She invited her closest family and friends to Charleston for their ceremony followed by an intimate dinner on the back patio. Their family heirloom blue and white porcelain china was our inspiration for the design, accented with green and white florals by Petaloso.  Take peek into this gorgeous intimate wedding styled for the bride and groom and captured by the amazing Aaron and Jillian Photography!

Magnolia Plantation Wedding: Jenna + Luke

Jenna and Luke's Magnolia Plantation wedding was the perfect day from start to finish! Jenna is an industry friend, and we were so excited when she reached out to us to help plan her big day! Jenna + Luke's passion for nature and horses inspired the equestrian details and all things western which was the perfect vision for the Carriage House. Horseshoes were set at each seat as a guest favor, custom tribal patterned napkins, and dream catchers as the backdrop of their sweetheart table. Their organic florals were full of natural greens and potted terrariums complimenting the laid back environment of the wedding day. Jenna looked stunning in her gorgeous custom gown, but we expected nothing less from a bride that works at a local bridal gown boutique! We wish Jenna + Luke a lifetime of love and happiness! Island House Wedding: Jess + Nick

Jess and Nick had every intention on getting married in October, however, hurricane Matthew had different plans for this fun couple's Island House Wedding . They re-scheduled their wedding day for a cool, sunny Saturday afternoon in December. Without a cloud in the sky, Jess + Nick did their intimate first look on the dock, wonderfully captured by, Amanda Seifert. The ceremony took place on the front lawn under a floral covered driftwood arbor by Wildflowers surrounded by water and family and friends while their said "I Do". The weather paired perfectly with the couple’s jewel toned and bohemian design. The flowers were in shades of burgundy, purple, deep blues, greens, and peach with peasant feathers integrated throughout. With the couples love for the water and outdoors, their tables were adorned with gold gilded oyster shells and crab claws to accent the water-side venue. After dancing the evening away to Charleston Groove Factory, the couple left the reception to an amazing after party at Prohibition!

Middleton Place Wedding: Stephanie + Brett

A warm, sunny Saturday afternoon was perfect for Stephanie and Brett’s Middleton Place  wedding. After the couple's intimate first look, wonderfully captured by Dana Cubbage, the ceremony took place in the octagonal garden with the large oak tree and Ashley River as their backdrop. The weather paired perfectly with the couple's light and romantic décor. Pretty in pink, the pavillion was set with gorgeous white and blush blooms and soft draping with mini chandeliers and special bride and groom chairs. The couple loved to travel so as their favor they had a plane shaped bottle opener topping each napkin. The favor was adorned with a tag that read 'let the adventure begin' so cute! This perfectly complimented the couple’s personalities and guests were thrilled as they took their seats for dinner. Following dinner, guests danced under the stars with music provided by Darby Event. We wish Mr. + Mrs. Vlasek love, laughter, and happiness ever after!

Planning Tip Tuesday: Something Old, New, Borrowed, Blue

Everyone has heard the age old tradition of the bride wearing something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue on her wedding day in order to bring good luck and prosperity. Here are a few ways to incorporate that into your own special day!

Something Old

A few ways to incorporate something "old" into your wedding day attire could be to wear your favorite pair of heels, or jewelry. Wear your mother's wedding dress, or even try to find a designer to help incorporate a piece of her wedding gown into your own or into your bouquet. Even if it can't be seen, you will know it's there!

Something New

This can be almost anything you're wearing on your wedding day, perhaps a gift from any relative,  maybe a new pair of earrings for the big day, a new pair of shoes, or even your wedding dress.

Something Borrowed

Perhaps the most special of them all, this one helps include those special people into your in your big day! Whether it's borrowing your grandmother's pearls, or a family photo locket, pins or charms to put on your bouquet.

Something Blue

This one can be fun to incorporate into your attire, no matter what your wedding's color palette is. Shoes can be a fun way to add this little pop of color for good luck and can also double up as new and blue. Another idea could be getting something special embroidered in blue thread on the inside of your dress.

Many of these can be combined as well, and however you decide to include these in your own bridal look will be the perfect finishing touches to what is sure to be the best day of your life!
