Fabulous Friday: Cakes We Adore

What's better than digging into your favorite slice of cake after dancing off a few calories? Especially when the cake looks as good as it tastes! We love the unique designs that our brides + PLB have come up with! Whether it's a small cutting cake or 3 tiers, each cake brings a special design element to the reception. We absolutely love the gold foil trend that has taken off! However, we can't discriminate against cake... Naked cakes, or even traditional simple buttercream cakes adorned with fresh flowers are sometimes too pretty too eat. We are blessed with some amazingly talented bakers who make cakes that not only look good, but taste amazing too! Check out some of our favorites!

Middleton Place Wedding: Stephanie + Brett

A warm, sunny Saturday afternoon was perfect for Stephanie and Brett’s Middleton Place  wedding. After the couple's intimate first look, wonderfully captured by Dana Cubbage, the ceremony took place in the octagonal garden with the large oak tree and Ashley River as their backdrop. The weather paired perfectly with the couple's light and romantic décor. Pretty in pink, the pavillion was set with gorgeous white and blush blooms and soft draping with mini chandeliers and special bride and groom chairs. The couple loved to travel so as their favor they had a plane shaped bottle opener topping each napkin. The favor was adorned with a tag that read 'let the adventure begin' so cute! This perfectly complimented the couple’s personalities and guests were thrilled as they took their seats for dinner. Following dinner, guests danced under the stars with music provided by Darby Event. We wish Mr. + Mrs. Vlasek love, laughter, and happiness ever after!

Fabulous Friday: rEvent

We love the sense of community that our beautiful Holy City of Charleston encompasses and we love it even more when we get to take part in giving back through our magnificent weddings! rEvent is a Charleston based nonprofit whose mission is to extend the beauty of events in the Charleston area.

Specifically working with the Event industry, rEvent is reducing waste and maximizing re-use through their free of charge service. Instead of throwing away your beautiful floral arrangements at the end of your special day, you, as a donor, can choose from a local list of charitable organizations to donate your gently used wedding day goods. Your wedding details can extend their use that benefits those in need in our community! Your floral arrangements can be picked up on site at the end of the day by rEvent, given a fresh cut and rearranged into bedside bouquets that are hand delivered to your choice of recipient. WOW! Floral arrangements that are not able to be reused are locally composted instead of sending them to landfill. It really doesn't get much better than that.

rEvent is currently delivering repurposed flower bouquetsto MUSC Hospital, MUSC Children's Hospital, Ronald McDonald House of Charleston, and Our Lady Of Mercy. Even better news is, rEvent doesn't just accept floral donations - they are able to redistribute nonperishable event items such as table linens and votives for efficient reuse within the community to affordable housing initiatives and arts programs. Some of the recipients of nonperishable are Habitat for Humanity & Goodwill.

Allow your floral after party to continue, don't let your beautiful florals go to waste! Donate to rEvent and bring a smile to someone else's face! We love this idea, and we cannot wait to use this service with our Brides.

Magnolia Plantation Carriage House Wedding: Stacey + David

David + Stacey's Magnolia Plantation Carriage House wedding was the perfect venue to say "I do".  After getting ready, the couple met downtown for their 'first look' outside the Dock Street Theatre, which was beautifully captured by Dana Cubbage. The Theatre was a special place for the bride who grew up preforming there as a little girl. This romantic, river-front location (along with the very compliant, and stunning weather) provided the perfect backdrop to a stunning Jewish ceremony and reception in front of their closest family and friends. David + Stacey were married under a beautiful hand-made Huppah that was accented with a fabulous florals by Wild Flowers, Inc.  Pink hued blooms filled the table tops with accents of navy and gold with specialty gold sequined runners.  A white birdcage with spilling flowers adorned David + Stacey's sweetheart table. Guests enjoyed signature cocktails by Squeeze named "The Sherfman" that was made up of vodka, grapefruit juice, simple syrup & bitters, and a "Southern Belle" made up of firefly vodka and lemonade. Their signature cocktail was named after their fun wedding social media hashtag, #Sherfman (a combination of both of their last names.) Delicious hors d'oeuvres were made and served by Salthouse catering, while guests mingled and enjoyed the DJ's selection of Sinatra-style music. David + Stacey danced the night away, including a very fun Horah (which was our favorite part of the evening!) The newly weds rode off in style in a Rolls Royce as the new Mr. & Mrs. Shiffman.

Fabulous Friday: Romantic Sweetheart Tables

Your wedding day is all about you, and your new husband - but with each guest to thank and friends to mingle with, it's hard to find a quiet moment to pause and bask in your beautiful day as a couple. One way to allow for a few moments to sit down together and enjoy each others company in the midst of your many guests, is a stunning sweetheart table! With the growing popularity of couple's choosing a sweetheart table over a traditional head table, there are so many ways to personalize your table as a short refuge to enjoy your first meal as a newly married couple! We also love how sweetheart tables serve as a focal point for your guests with just you and your groom at the table.

To distinguish your table from your guests', we love sequined table linens to add that extra touch of glam! The delicate draping of your chairs can be accented with florals and greenery to really set you both apart!

Having a sweetheart table allows for intimate, relaxed photographs to be captured throughout the night. The sweet candid moments that are captured during toasts and enjoying a few moments together at your own table are our favorites!

Gadsden House Wedding: Cate + James

This white & green Gadsden House  wedding was our very first look at this amazing new venue downtown. This remodeled historical home looked better than ever, what a transformation! Stunning gold and crystal chandeliers hung from the ceilings, neutral palette, and the gorgeous bridal suite with a gold gilded mirror. Cate was the definition of a blushing bride, she took everyones breath away in her perfect fitted gown with sweet low back and bow. The reception area was filled with whites, lush greens and accents of gold. We were in love with this classic romantic design, and of course this wonderful couple! We are wishing Cate + James nothing but the absolute best!

Planning Tip Tuesday: Wedding Hashtags

We're obsessed with social media and with so many of your guests also equally in love with Instagram, Twitter and Facebook, your wedding can be documented by your near and dear in real time! With unique hashtags, you’ll be able to view your guests photos whenever you want! Not only can you use a hashtag for your big day, we also love the fun bachelor and bachelorette weekend hashtags. Picking a hashtag will be one of the most fun things you will get to do (besides cake tasting!) Here are some tips to pick the punniest, sweetest hashtag that your guests will LOVE!

  1. Put your names together!

We love when couples have names that can be combined into funny puns or cute combinations of their names. Also, for a bachelorette party, we love #AshleysLastBash or using the Bride's maiden name #HuntersLastStand. Your man and his guys may also want to join in the fun for his bachelor weekend, for example, #AndrewsLastHurrah

2. Incorporate your story!

Whether you have been dating for 6 months or 6 years, use the hashtag to make your guests giggle at your story! For example, a couple who have been together for many years, a cute hashtag could be #FinallyaSmith, #JohnsonAtLast. A cute one that is a classic and loved by everyone, for example, #HereComeTheJones or #ShermanPartyof2

3. Alliteration is key!

It's all about how the hashtag rolls off the tongue, or your fingertips! Alliteration makes your hashtag sound smooth! If you're stuck for ideas, you can guarantee you will find one using alliteration. For example, #NicholsonNuptuals, #HarrisonsGetHitched.

If you're still having a hard time coming up with something creative, try using The Wedding Hashtag Generator!

Once you pick your hashtag, you can use it from the moment he pops down on one knee! Use it to document fun engagement adventures up until your wedding day. Then, all you need to do is pick fun frames to place around your venue to encourage your guests to use your hashtag! You will be able to look back on moments that your guests captured and cherish them forever.

Lowndes Grove Plantation Wedding: Haley + Jeff

Haley + Jeff had a beautiful Lowndes Grove Plantation wedding. Haley was a true Pure Luxe Bride, incorporating sparkle into her wedding any chance she had. Her tent shimmered with blush pink and accents of silver. The poles were disguised in a soft pink drape, and glittering linens covered the cocktail tables. The floral combinations from Branch caught the attention of all the guests with a combination of white hydrangeas, silver dollar eucalyptus, roses, and dusty miller in a mercury glass vase stole the show. The bride carried a bouquet of white O'Hara garden roses and peonies tied with a ribbon to match her gown. She looked stunning in her uniquely beaded dress with a low cut back and bold red lips. Following the ceremony, a pink champagne tower provided by Polished awaited the guests for cocktail hour. This wedding had a ladies and gents tents set up on either side of the dock, and looked the part. The ladies tent was covered with pink draping and inside a beautiful crystal chandelier hung above the feminine lounge with lip gloss, perfume, and a fun framed quote from Coco Chanel for the girls to use.  On the other side was the gents tent; it had a brown leather sofa, drum coffee table, and iron wrought chandelier to create the masculine vibe. Cigars were offered inside the tent for the male guests to enjoy. The couple danced the night away to the awesome Calvin Taylor Band and the couple rode off in a vintage Rolls Royce provided by ACW!

Lowndes Grove Plantation Wedding: Jackie + Branson

You are in for a treat today! Jackie + Branson had a gorgeous Lowndes Grove Plantation Wedding with tons of pretty details! The couple met while attending law school at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and later moved to Atlanta together after dating long distance. The bride loved the little details so for starters, there was a white top tent with blush draping and crystal chandeliers, of course! White and peach hued florals by Branch Design Studio, gold chivari chairs, glass chargers, and plenty of candlelight. For place cards, the guests found their seat by a mint colored macaroon with a gold sparkly flag noting the guests name, perfect after dinner sweet! A delicious dinner was served by Patrick Properties Hospitality Group along with a delicious cake gold brushed cake for dessert. Underneath the big Oak was the half moon bar, with the bride + groom's gold leaf monogram and a chandelier overhead, one of our favorite details of the big day! You can also find their monogram carried throughout the reception on their napkins, favors, menu's and more! After dinner, it was time to dance the night away with Quiana Parler and Friends and end the night with a sparkler departure! You can find this wedding recently featured in Southern Bride Magazine. See all the pretty captured by Aaron and Jillian Photography here!
