On one of the first truly autumn feeling weekends in Charleston, Katie and Dan said their vows at St. John’s Catholic Church surrounded by friends and family. After the charming ceremony, the newlyweds and their guests then made their way to one of Pure Luxe’s favorite venues, the Magnolia Plantation Veranda, filled with history and scenic views that you can only find in Charleston. The Veranda of the Plantation House wraps all the way around, looking over an open pasture and manicured gardens and provides a huge outside area for dining and dancing into the night.
Upon arrival, cocktail hour began on the lawn of the plantation house by the gazebo. Guests mingled under the Spanish moss that hangs from the live oak trees and enjoyed music and drinks. As the sun began to set and the temperatures dropped, the newlywed’s thoughtful gift of Pashmina scarves came in handy. Cocktail hour came to an end and guests made their way onto the veranda.
Walking up the stairs of the plantation house, place cards tied to miniature Louisiana hot sauce bottles directed everyone to their beautiful tables that were set around the veranda. Accented with natural centerpieces of lanterns and an assortment of pink and white flowers and wicker and sea-foam green place settings that popped on the white linens, the veranda was decorated perfectly, thanks to Duvall.
The bridal party was announced in, followed by heart-warming toasts from Katie’s father Bernie and the maid of honor and best man, Chrissy and Tom. Dinner was served and guests made their way to the multiple stations around the veranda including mussels, frites, and a carving station. The three-tiered wedding cake, hanging under a Villanova Alumni sign, was cut after dinner using personalized cake cutting tools and then served. Another station opened, offering ice cream to go along with the delicious cake.
Music by the Ascension Band created a lively environment under the heaters and lanterns around the porch. Playing many new and classic covers, guests danced into the night with the newlyweds. Katie and Dan kept the party going as they and their guests made their way down the front steps to buses. The Jurassic Park Theme song provided a memorable exit the couple and their guests.
