Planning Tip Tuesday: A Perfect Reception Deserves A Perfect Playlist

If you want a reception that gets your four-year-old flower girl twirling, your friends slow-dancing, your parents singing their way back to their era, your grandpa busting his stylish moves, and of course, you and your Mr. doing all of the above, it’s important to spend some time planning the perfect playlist for your wedding.

To help you get started, we’ve made four playlists with song suggestions to help you pack the dance floor, have your guests reeling in romance, close out the night, and—since we are in South Carolina—bring out the Southern Charm of every guest!

Fabulous Friday: WedTexts

Keeping all of your guests updated on the wedding weekend is definitely not an easy task, and who wants to send individual texts to all of their guests on the big day anyway? WedTexts is a new and improved way to keep guest communication simple and effective!

You begin by building your guest list, and it is as simple as importing contacts from your phone or adding them manually. You can group them into specific groups (i.e. bridesmaids, groomsmen, wedding guests), and send notifications to these guests at any time leading up to the wedding. With WedTexts you will be able to  send event reminders and alert messages to your guests. You can either pre-set the messages to be sent on a certain date or WedTexts allows for your guests to receive real time updates. In the event of any last minute changes, WedTexts can send out the new information to your guest list in seconds!

WedTexts does not require your guests to download an app, as long as they have text messaging, they will receive the message!

  • Using WedTexts is cheaper than printed material, it saves stamps and cuts down on waste.
  • By using WedTexts you can text all of your guests at once. Group text messages from your cell phone only allow you to text 30 people at the same time.
  • The convenience of WedTexts is that you can schedule all of your messages in advance so you do not have to worry about your guests remembering everything you told them. However, if things change, you can send real time updates letting your guests know about any new details.
  • You can use WedTexts for events other than just your wedding — such as your rehearsal dinner, bachelor parties, engagement party, bridal shower and after party!

Planning Tip Tuesday: Countdown to the big day!

As the wedding day gets closer and closer, we know that the stress can start to build when it comes to remembering the little things leading up to the day! When packing up for the big day, here are some things you won't want to forget!

1.)Marriage License

Make sure that you have everything squared away with your Marriage License. After all, that's what all this planning was for anyway! Just remember that there is a $70.00 fee for the license, and a 24 hour waiting period before the license can be picked up.

2.) Get your dress steamed

Don't let there be a single wrinkle in your gorgeous white gown on the big day! Get your dress steamed a couple of days before or the day-of the wedding and you will look perfect walking down that aisle.

3.) Set aside vendor tips

Go ahead and set aside your tips for each of the vendors that you loved working with! We recommend placing each tip in a separate envelope with the vendor noted. You can hand over the tips over to our team when we meet the week-of and we'll make sure they get distributed at the end of the night!

4.) Stay hydrated!

We know that you will have champagne in hand, but make sure you bring plenty of water for yourself and bridal party. You will want to make sure you stay hydrated so that you can enjoy the rest of the night headache-free!

Planning Tip Tuesday: Place Cards

We love getting creative with place card ideas! This is a chance to incorporate a fun detail or let it double as a favor for your guests. You can choose to display them in a fun way, or have a seating chart with each place card at the guests seat. Choose something other than the traditional tented paper place card and allow it to show your personality. This is the easiest way to make your wedding unique and stand out from the rest! See some of our favorites below!

Planning Tip Tuesday: Pre-Wedding Hair and Makeup Trial

We know you have a HUGE list of to-do's before your big day, but make sure this is on it! Having a trial appointment for your wedding day hair and makeup is definitely a must before the real day! Your stylist will be able to show you exactly what your hair and makeup will look like on your actual wedding day, so you can make sure your whole look comes together flawlessly!  Be sure to bring pictures for your stylist to draw inspiration from, and don't be afraid to try out multiple styles until you find the one that suits you perfectly. Trust us, having this trial session will give you one less thing to stress about, plus you can spend the day getting pampered! Win-Win!

Planning Tip Tuesday: Naming Your Wedding Hashtag

Have you ever wondered what your guests are up to while you're busy getting married? They're snapping pictures left and right! A wedding hashtag is the perfect way to keep all the fun, candid photos that your guests take in one safe place: Instagram. If you do not already have an Instagram, start an account asap to ensure you don't miss out on these great shots. This allows your photographer to post same-day edited shots as well, so you can get an early sneak peak when they hashtag your wedding! Here are a couple of tips to help you create the perfect wedding hashtag for your special day. First, you want to make sure that the hashtag you choose is unique to you. You do not want pictures of weddings from all over to come up on your hashtag! Second, make the tag something easy for your guests to remember. Use words like "newleywed","happilyever", or "hitch". A few examples of previous Pure Luxe Bride hashtags are #121314Forever, #AJuryWedding, #NickandSufiaWedding, #STADwedding, #GibbHerYourLove, and #TheFredding. Once you have decided on your personal hashtag, makes sure it is visible to all your guests by displaying a framed note on your bar asking them to please tag their photos. Have fun with this and get creative. We can't wait to see what you come up with!

Planning Tip: Getting Ready Location

When planning your wedding day, be mindful of where you choose to get ready. If your venue does not have a bridal suite, there are many factors to think about. How big is the room? Is there a lot of light? Can multiple people get ready? What is the décor?  Your photographers are going to want to be with you while you are getting ready to snap some photos, so a room with lots of windows and sunlight always make the best photos. The décor makes a huge difference, opt for a room with lighter wall colors and pretty accent pieces. You also don't want to be crammed and hot with all of your bridesmaids and parents in a small room, so make sure the place can accommodate your bridal party. You will likely have your hair and makeup come to you, so keep this in mind as well. Lastly, make sure the room is clean, you won't want clutter and trash in your photos. These bride + grooms chose some great places for getting ready and their pictures tell it all...IOP beach house, suite at Middleton Place, Zero George Street, etc... what a fun relaxing start to the day!
