Fabulous Friday: rEvent

We love the sense of community that our beautiful Holy City of Charleston encompasses and we love it even more when we get to take part in giving back through our magnificent weddings! rEvent is a Charleston based nonprofit whose mission is to extend the beauty of events in the Charleston area.

Specifically working with the Event industry, rEvent is reducing waste and maximizing re-use through their free of charge service. Instead of throwing away your beautiful floral arrangements at the end of your special day, you, as a donor, can choose from a local list of charitable organizations to donate your gently used wedding day goods. Your wedding details can extend their use that benefits those in need in our community! Your floral arrangements can be picked up on site at the end of the day by rEvent, given a fresh cut and rearranged into bedside bouquets that are hand delivered to your choice of recipient. WOW! Floral arrangements that are not able to be reused are locally composted instead of sending them to landfill. It really doesn't get much better than that.

rEvent is currently delivering repurposed flower bouquetsto MUSC Hospital, MUSC Children's Hospital, Ronald McDonald House of Charleston, and Our Lady Of Mercy. Even better news is, rEvent doesn't just accept floral donations - they are able to redistribute nonperishable event items such as table linens and votives for efficient reuse within the community to affordable housing initiatives and arts programs. Some of the recipients of nonperishable are Habitat for Humanity & Goodwill.

Allow your floral after party to continue, don't let your beautiful florals go to waste! Donate to rEvent and bring a smile to someone else's face! We love this idea, and we cannot wait to use this service with our Brides.

Middleton Place Wedding: Helen + Aaron

Helen + Aaron's romantic glam Middleton Place wedding was absolutely stunning! The day began with excitement as Helen and her bridesmaids got their hair + makeup done at the Francis Marion Hotel while Aaron and his groomsmen suited up for the big day on Daniel Island. Then, the wedding party all met at Middleton Place for the bride + groom's highly anticipated first look! Aaron was awestruck when he laid eyes on his beautiful bride for the very first time, and the entire wedding party had so much fun photographing on Middleton's gorgeous, lush grounds pre-ceremony. After the signing of the Ketubah and a toast to the soon-to-be Mr. + Mrs., it was time to tie the knot! Luckily, the rain came to a stop just in time for the Helen + Aaron's nuptials in the picturesque Octagonal Gardens. Standing beneath a custom-built huppa by Wild Flowers Inc., the bride + groom said "I do." In traditional Jewish fashion, Aaron smashed the glass and the guests yelled "Mazeltov!" as the new Mr. + Mrs. happily walked down the aisle to an instrumental version of "I'm Yours" by Jason Mraz. Helen + Aaron departed the ceremony via carriage ride to arrive for cocktail hour at the pavilion where they sipped and mingled with guests before it was time to be announced into the reception! Mr. + Mrs. Aaron and Helen Bernie were announced onto the dance floor to the sounds of "Sweet Home Alabama" before sharing their first dance to "I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)" by Sleeping at Last. Lyrics from this song were incorporated into wedding details such as lounge pillows and custom frames that displayed sweet sayings for the couple. Guests enjoyed a stationed meal by Cru Catering, a special hookah area by Tabbuli, and vintage lounge furniture by Snyder. Shades of blush and ivory gave the pavilion a soft ambiance, while the tent outside had an elegant feel complete with platinum drape by Pure Luxe Bride, silver chivari chairs, and a white plantation bar, complete with a custom light-up bar sign. This design was beautiful, and perfect for the occasion! Guests then enjoyed a dessert bar and dancing, including a very special dance to "HORA", where all of Helen +Aaron's family got up into the chair! As the last song of the night approached, everyone got out onto the dance floor for Journey's "Don't Stop Believing" before Mr. + Mrs. Bernie departed through a sparkler archway to their downtown after party! Wishing Helen + Aaron all the best and a big thank you to Trent Bailey for capturing this gorgeous celebration!

James Island Yacht Club Wedding: Amy + Seth

Amy and Seth's James Island Yacht Club Wedding took place on a beautiful spring day overlooking the Ashley harbor with the Ravenel bridge as their backdrop! Amy + Seth chose to do their first look in the cistern yard at the College of Charleston and the pictures turned out amazing! Each bridesmaid had a vintage broach on their bouquet passed down from the bride's grandmother. Their ceremony was held at Bethel United Methodist Church, where the grooms parents also got married many years ago. Guests then headed over to the Yacht Club for cocktail hour and the reception. As the cocktail hour came to a close, our gorgeous bride made an outfit change into a low back white dress with a floral crown just in time to take pictures during the orange sunset. We turned the Yacht Club into an elegant wedding venue with blush draping inside the pavillion, teal, and lots of gold sparkle! After a fun party dancing to Finesse the bride + groom departed in a golf cart decorated by a friend of the couple!

Dunes West Wedding: Jillian + Anthony

This adorable couple couldn't stop smiling as they  got married overlooking the marsh at the Dunes West  Golf Club. It was love at first sight when Jillian + Anthony were first introduced, and Anthony seemed to fall in love all over again when he saw Jillian during their first look.  The ceremony was filled with love as her father walked her down the aisle, and  Jillian's sister stood by her side as her Maid of Honor. It was certainly one of the warmer days here in Charleston, and the water gave off the perfect summer breeze to keep the guests cool. After the couple said "I Do", guests moved inside to enjoy cocktail hour. The reception space was decorated with mint linens and DIY Florals done by the bride. Sea Foam Green mason jars  held together white hydrangeas with pops of pink daisy's as the centerpieces of each table. Scattered around each arrangement were vintage keys found by the bride. After a wonderful dinner, everyone headed downstairs for toasts and dancing. The dance floor was packed, as family and friends enjoyed celebrating with the Travis Allison Band . We absolutely loved working with Jillian + Anthony, and wish them the best!

Magnolia Plantation Wedding: Elizabeth + Randy

Elizabeth + Randy, a fun-loving couple from Virginia, chose The Carriage House at Magnolia Plantation for their big day! This Magnolia Plantation wedding was romantic chic with rustic and elegant vibes, plus shades of ivory, nude, blush, and pops of coral, blush pink, and natural greens. Elizabeth, or "Cricket" as her family + friends lovingly call her, started the day off with hair by Elesyium and makeup by Bellelina. Elizabeth was a vision with a Queen Anne's lace flower crown and bouquet by WildFlowers that was brimming with peonies, hydrangeas, garden roses, ranunculus, astilbe, lisianthus, sweet pea, roses, and touches of Queen Anne's lace. Randy wore a white ranunculus boutonniere with a tuft of greenery and tied with an ivory ribbon to accent Elizabeth's bouquet. The nuptials took place on the oyster tabby under a clear tent to shield from the rainy day showers. And who says rain is bad luck on your wedding day? Randall's mouth dropped wide open when he first laid eyes on his elegant, stunning bride. Guests enjoyed drinks and mingling during cocktail hour until the bridal party and groomsmen were introduced into the reception. The bride + groom excitedly made their way in as "Mr. & Mrs. Randall Holmes" and immediately went into their first dance to "Once in a Lifetime" by Landon Austin. Guests were blown away by the reception design that included long and circular tables covered in ivory linens, custom dinner menus in gold font, ample candlelight in rustic gold votives, and tall floral arrangements in clear glass vases with smaller, scattered bud vases and clear glass cubes that all held the wedding florals. Chandeliers were covered with Queen Anne's lace and lush greenery, making for an eye-catching detail that we loved! Pure Luxe Bride softened up the space with ivory drape tiebacks from the ceiling and custom drape for the head table to complete this romantic design. Guests also admired the bride + groom's personal touches, such as the memory tables that Elizabeth + Randall put together with photos of their parents and grandparents, and an extra special piece with a vintage wedding veil from the mother of the bride. Their memory tables were a sentimental way to honor their loved ones who couldn't be there on their big day. Everyone was then treated to a delicious stationed meal by Good Food Catering that consisted of petit grilled lamb chops over cavatappi mac & cheese, grilled asparagus with prosciutto, and more! Post-dinner, wedding cake and s'mores were served while everyone got out on the dance floor to the sounds of DJ Rob Duren! The night ended as everyone danced to "Do You Love Me" by Contours and wished the newlyweds on their merry way! Wishing Elizabeth + Randall joy and happiness, and remembering this beautiful wedding!

William Aiken House Wedding: Lisa + Scott

Lisa + Scott tied the knot in December at their William Aiken House wedding creating a classic, elegant feel with colors of navy and ivory. The couple wanted to make sure they commemorated  their families on this special day by setting up a table where guests had the chance to see old wedding photos of loved ones. Lisa's bouquet was full of Garden Roses, Ranunculus and small touches of Brunia Berries and Dusty Miller- it was the perfect winter bouquet by Wild Flowers.  The tablescape was full of glass lanterns, blooms, and candles for an intimate post-wedding dinner. Navy napkins were delicately placed at every chair with a personalized menu card, showing a loving message from the couple on the front and the dinner menu on the back.  As dinner concluded, guests headed downstairs for a delicious cake and dancing!  The lounge area was set up with gorgeous white studded couches, complete with "Mr. and Mrs." pillows. Lisa + Scott were sent on their way into downtown Charleston, and their family and friends departed with a sweet treat to save for later! Thanks to Aaron and Jillian for capturing all the pretty!

Magnolia Plantation Wedding: Christina + Kirk

We cannot get enough of this absolutely stunning bride and her handsome groom! This vintage chic DIY wedding at Magnolia Plantation was the perfect day for Christina + Kirk! Plenty of details to go around..burlap and lace table runners, specialty lounge from 428 main, and a clear top tent with bistro lighting, these two were dancing under the stars all night long! The couple had vintage post cards as their guest book for guests to sign and grab a ribbon wand as they took a seat for the ceremony. The garden style blooms in soft blush hues could not be any prettier, and the brides bouquet was a true show stopper. Full lush cascading florals with a waterfall effect, oh my! These pictures captured by Richard Bell Photography are breath-taking! With a gorgeous bride and darling eyelet umbrella, you can't go wrong.

Magnolia Plantation Wedding: Megan + Joseph

May 8th was a beautiful day for Megan + Joseph's destination wedding at the Magnolia Plantation Carriage House. In preparation for the another gorgeous reception, Team PLB arrived early to drape the rustic beams of the venue to create a soft, romantic look for guests to enjoy.

Magnolia Plantation Wedding: Kylie + Ryan

To celebrate such as sweet and loving couple, a wedding at Magnolia Plantation Carriage House was only fitting. For Kylie and Ryan’s Pure Luxe wedding, the couple said ‘I Do’ beneath the wallowing oaks among family and friends. This beautiful scene captured the beauty of the lowcountry, as well the couple's love for each other. Towards the end of the ceremony, there was a traditional United States Marine Crops sward arch for the newlywed couple to exit through. What a personal touch this was - not to mention, it looked awesome!

Making a wedding day personal and tailored towards the bride and groom's personalities is so important. Kylie + Ryan did a fabulous job of incorporating personal elements into their big day. Ryan wore his USMC dress attire and the bridesmaids accented this color scheme by wearing navy and grey. The color combination looked amazing with flowers arrangements of white and green. What an elegant look this created!

Cru Catering provided stationed meals inside the carriage house for guests to enjoy. Their famous mac and cheese with lobster, BBQ pork sliders, shrimp and grits, and beef tenderloin with grilled veggies were on the menu for the night. Ready for something sweet to eat?! For dessert, guests satisfied their sweet tooth cravings with delicious cupcakes by Cupcake. The groom's cake was even more amazing, as it was themed around the groom’s USMC background. These desserts looked great and tasted just as amazing!

Pure Luxe Bride absolutely loved this couple's wedding favors! The bride, along with her aunt and grandmother, picked over 90 lbs of peaches in California. They then created a peach BBQ sauce that said ‘I do BBQ’ on the outside of the package. What a clever and unique wedding favor!

DJ Burt with FingerSnappin' Entertainment was at it again, keeping the bride, groom and their guests on the dance floor for much of the night. As the reception came to an end, the party did not stop there! Kylie + Ryan departed through a canopy of sparklers and into a Charleston Black Cab Company vehicle. The bridal party climbed on board a white trolley, and the celebration lasted through the night in downtown Charleston.
