Magnolia Carriage House: Evin + Ryan

Evin and Ryan's wedding at the Magnolia Carriage house was a refreshing reminder of the charm Charleston is famed for.  The newly weds from New York showed their guests what Southern Hospitality is all about by welcoming them with a bubbly surprise of Prosecco + Pops as they arrived to the ceremony site under the properties oldest and most majestic oak tree. One of our favorite parts of the day was the surprise visit made by a peacock as the bride and groom were taking pictures with their family and bridal party. While the peacock was trying to show off its colors, gazes were fixated at Evin and her dress; she looked stunning. The green leaf escort cards and champagne tower were signature pieces of the cocktail hour, and the wagon wheel chandeliers of the reception that were covered in foliage and dripping white florals gave the rustic venue an elegant and romantic glow. Aligned with these chandeliers was Evin and Ryan's sweetheart table, which featured a garland rich of blush and white florals that hung to the floor on both sides of the table and overlooked the dance floor. Congratulations Evin and Ryan, we are so grateful to have been a part of your special day!

Planning Tip Tuesday: Engagement Photos

The excitement of a new engagement is something you will want to share with everyone! Engagement photos are a perfect way to announce the news and to show off that ring! We’ve put together some ideas to make your photos memorable and one-of-a-kind. We love the photos from Brittany + Tom’s engagement session shot by Sara Bee Photography! I mean…how cute is their picnic?!?

Attire: Pick clothes that reflect your personality! If you’re stuck on what to wear, start with coordinating outfits but stay away from being too matchy-matchy. Choose clothes that complement each other or incorporate a color in both of your outfits to make a cohesive look. If you plan to use one of the photos for your save-the-date, then keep your wedding style and time of year in mind. Lastly, wear something that you feel comfortable in and will photograph nicely.

Hair and Makeup: Consider having your hair and makeup professionally done for the shoot since photos require slightly heavier makeup than your everyday look so that you don’t become washed out. Pro tip: if you haven’t done the trial for your wedding, use this opportunity to knock out two birds!

Props: One way to make your photos unique is to bring props that are personal to the two of you! These can range from custom signs, champagne, and even your dog!

Location: You can bring variety to the photos by going to different locations. This will give you more options to choose from and in the end will be more interesting for others to look at! Try going to locations that have personal significance…for example, you could go where the two of you first met or where the groom proposed!

HAVE FUN!!!

Thomas Bennett House: Caitlin + Chris

Caitlin and Chris celebrated their spring wedding at The Governor Thomas Bennett House! Their vision was to turn the venue into an elegant, fairy tale, garden feel. A champagne wall was a must-have for the bride which awaited guests after the ceremony to greet their family and friends with a glass of bubbly. Blush, white, and hints of gold were the colors of this romantic affair- fairy lights and lots of chandeliers! Walking into the reception tent was like walking into a garden brimming with peonies (the bride’s favorite flower), custom linens, tufted lounge, and gorgeous lighting hanging from a sailcloth tent! If a surprise performance to Space Jam by the groom + groomsmen isn't a memorable way to end the night, we don't know what is! Wishing these two a lifetime of love and happiness!

Fabulous Friday: Bridesmaid Fashion

While we know the neutral color palette and blush bridesmaids dresses are here to stay, we’re inspired by a more bold color palette for the wedding party attire! We are loving the mix and match look, so today we are sharing some of our favorite ways to style color! Don’t be afraid to mix and match color and patterns, or textures like velvet or satin. Different fabrics will photograph really well together, and can be so flattering! See our inspiration from the Jenny Yoo collection below!

Boone Hall Plantation Wedding: Celia + Spencer

Celia + Spencer's vision for their Boone Hall Plantation Wedding was "black tie in a barn", which were the key words we used to transform this rustic venue into a glamorous celebration! After a breathtaking ceremony with the plantation home as their backdrop, the bride surprised the groom with a bagpiper to lead guests to the reception! Guests made their way to the Cotton Dock, which was decked out in blush and gold, and an intimate dinner took place under crystal chandeliers. Their sweet pup even made a special visit and the photos are adorable! Their cake design was inspired by the intricate lace detail of their custom linens. Outside on the dock there was a lounge area overlooking Shem Creek, and the bride and groom were able to sneak away to take some romantic pictures with the summer sunset. After dancing the night away, Celia + Spencer rode off in a white Bentley, best wishes to the new Mr + Mrs. Oliver!

Planning Tip Tuesday: The Groom's Details

We all know how important the bride’s details are, but don’t forget about the groom! For those moments when all eyes are on the groom, add some details that will make him standout. Try adding some customization or color accents on his bow tie, socks, watch, pocket square, or cufflinks. Make sure that all of the groom’s details are together in one place when the photographer arrives so they can be styled and capture all of the special details. Lauren and Dante met at The College of Charleston, and one New Years Eve morning, Dante popped the question in The Cistern Yard! Lauren always walked by William Aiken House with dreams of one day getting married there, so selecting the destination and venue was an easy decision for them! From gold accents to pearly white radiance, this was a classic love story come to life.
